ABOUT US
Chamber Music Australia is the umbrella organisation responsible for organising the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition and its smaller sibling event, the Asia-Pacific Chamber Music Competition. Both competitions are held every four years alternating biennially similar in structure to the Olympic and Commonwealth Games. Chamber Music Australia also manages masterclasses and workshops for ensemble development.
After five highly successful international events, the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition is widely regarded as one of the world’s leading classical music competitions. A showcase of the best young piano trios and string quartets in the world, the International Competition has won the respect of the global music community and now attracts international agents, presenters, venue directors, critics and supporters to Melbourne every four years for the Competition.
Since its inception, Chamber Music Australia has acted as a catalyst to improve the standard of chamber music performance in Australia by providing Australian musicians with an opportunity to compare themselves with the best in the world and, in turn, providing an international benchmark of performance excellence.
