Chamber Music Australia is the umbrella organisation responsible for organising the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition and its smaller sibling event, the Asia-Pacific Chamber Music Competition. Both competitions are held every four years alternating biennially similar in structure to the Olympic and Commonwealth Games. Chamber Music Australia also manages masterclasses and workshops for ensemble development.

After five highly successful international events, the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition is widely regarded as one of the world's leading classical music competitions. A showcase of the best young piano trios and string quartets in the world, the International Competition has won the respect of the global music community and now attracts international agents, presenters, venue directors, critics and supporters to Melbourne every four years for the Competition.
